Decorating my door for Spring

Don't you just love this time of year?!?!  Rain, flowers and trees blooming, new life is present all around us. When decorating your home this is a perfect time to bring the outside in.  Starting at the front door before entering, well that's the beginning to a well dressed home.

I'm sharing my front door with you today. With all the rain that we've received here in Austin, I couldn't help but to play with what God is giving in the form of spring. So I decided the use of an umbrella is fitting for a spring wreath.

The other day I took a pit stop into our Goodwill, which I like to do occasionally.  I always like to see what furniture and home decor might be found for me to rescue and make new again.  I didn't find anything that day but I did find a black umbrella for 2.99.  Well you can't beat that price! First score for the start to my project.

Second stop, Jo-Ann Craft store since they were having a 50% offer sale on their flowers.  For this project I suggest you find your umbrella first so that you can coordinate your flower colors with it.  When I walked in there I was looking for big tulips but all I found were small ones.  Oh well I can work with that.  Here's what I got.

8 easy steps to putting the arrangement together to fit into the umbrella

STEP 1: Layout the stems that will bring height and flow to your arrangement.  I bought 3 of these so I can put one on each side and a center.

STEP 2:  Next add on the other stems that will serve as the background. I only bought 2 of these.

STEP 3: Now lay down the roses on the sides

STEP 4: Then top it off with the tulips.  I bought 4.

STEP 5:  Use a rubber band to tie your bundle up

STEP 6: Take the bundle, insert into the umbrella

STEP 7:  Cut some coordinating ribbon to tie around the umbrella to hold it all together.

STEP 8: At your door use another small piece of ribbon to hang the umbrella to the command strip

VOILA!! Your masterpiece is finished! Hope this brings a smile to you and your guests as they walk through the door.
